When I chose to take this class I pictured it so different. I thought we would be writing a lot more and not be able to state our opinion so much. I liked being able to say what we thought about a certain text, but it made me mad throughtout the entire course how we talked about the same things. Every book and article we read somehow came together and tried to say the same message. I don't know about everyone else but I get bored when someone keeps talking about the same thing over and over. However a few of the books and articles did spark my interest and made me really think into them. For example, when I first started reading Feed I thought it was dumb and had no point, but as I went on it was actually really easy to understand and get involved in it. On the otherhand reading "The Dumbest Generation" really angered me and just stero typed our whole generation.
I like how we were put into groups right from the beginning and were able to stay with them throughout the whole semester. It gave us a chance to talk and share our opinions with other people we don't know. My group got along right from the beginning and always worked well together, so i'm glad I was given the opportunity to work with them:) One thing I didn't enjoy too much was the whole class discussions. I liked hearing other's opinions and what they thought about a text, but when people starting saying the same things in just different words really annoyed me. I guess that was the whole point of this class, for everything to come together somehow.
Overall i'm glad I took this class because it taught me how to think critically and analyze literature. It showed me that there is more to just reading a book and knowing what it's about. I never had a class where I could just state my opinion and not be told I was wrong. Also engaging with other students helped me understand the material better and made me think differently about some things.
I like that you brought up the fact that everything we did in the class had pretty much the same message. For a while, it's cool to read several different books/other literature that present the same ideas in different ways, but I think it was overkill by the end of the semester. It got to the point where you didn't really have to listen to what the class was discussing because everything always had the same message. I wish it was mixed up a little bit. Not so redundant.
